Harold DeNure, age 81 of Monroe formerly of Argyle, WI passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at Monroe Manor in Monroe, WI. Harold DeNure was born August 31, 1927 in Wiota Township, Lafayette County, the first born of five sons to Harry and Maud (Miller) DeNure. He attended Jennings School from which he graduated in 1942. He was baptized and confirmed at the East Wiota Lutheran Church. Harold farmed with his parents and later with his brother, Robert, on the home farm in Wiota Township, rural South Wayne for fifty-five years. Harold moved to the Senior Citizens Apartments in Argyle in February 1986 and entered the Monroe Manor in 2004.
Harold is survived by one brother: Kenneth (Ramona) DeNure of Argyle; three sisters-in-law: Lillian (Bob) Slocum and Shirley DeNure, both of Monroe, and Marilyn (George) Torkelson of Blanchardville, WI; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend: Millie Bruns at the Monroe Manor. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Robert in 1990, George in 1991, and Alvin in 2000; one nephew: Gerald DeNure; one niece: Sandra Berget; two grand nephews: Perry Berget and Bryant Gabioud; and one great-grand niece: Devon Gabioud.
Harold was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church. He enjoyed recording country western music and loved flowers. Harold collected horse knick knacks. He also was proud of and kept up on his Norwegian heritage.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Wiota Lutheran Church, 6682 State Road 78, Wiota, WI with Rev. Mark Gruner of Pecatonica Lutheran Parish in Blanchardville officiating. Burial will be at East Wiota Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 9 a.m. until the time of services at Wiota Lutheran Church. Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
