Germain L. Bukoski, age 95 of Monroe and formerly of Fennimore, died on Thursday afternoon Feb. 20, 2014 at the residence she shared with her daughter in Monroe. Germain was born Sept. 3, 1918 in Bloomington Twsp., Grant Co., WI the daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Wagner) Schneider. She married Francis "Buck" Bukoski on May 7, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore.
When Germain was young, her family moved to a farm near Patch Grove owned by Everett Humphrey. She attended school in Patch Grove, St. Mary's Catholic School in Bloomington, and country school on Military Ridge. After she and Francis were married, they moved to Fennimore. She worked at Lancaster Memorial Hospital for 28 years as well as on the election board, and volunteered for the Red Cross for numerous years. Germain was dedicated to her Lord and her family. She believed in providing strong family roots through her faith in God. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Sodality, the Catholic Order of Forrester's, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had been currently residing in Monroe with her daughter Audry for the past four years. Germain's wonderful smile, awesome personality, and her sincere appreciation for all the gifts that life had provided are deeply cherished.
Germain is survived her three children; Audry (Mike) Einbeck of Monroe, Robert "Bob" (Donna) Bukoski of Boise, ID, and John "Jack" (Mary Ann) Bukoski of Byron, IL, eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Eileen Schneider of Potosi and many special nieces and nephews.
Germain was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis on Feb. 27, 1975, sisters; Agatha (Selz) Langkamp and Anastasia Kemnitzer, three brothers; Arthur, Edmund and Leo Schneider, twin nephews Harold and Gerald Selz at birth, and an infant niece Mary Ann Selz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday Feb. 25, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. of Monday evening Feb. 24, 2014 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore where a Parish Rosary will be said at 3:30 P.M. on Monday afternoon.
