Gary L. Buholzer, age 70, formerly of Monroe, died on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at his home in Montello. He was born on February 19, 1943 in Monroe; the son of Werner and Viola (Monte) Buholzer. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1961. Gary married Janet Kraut on August 12, 1966 at The Church by the side of the road, in Rockton, IL. He served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970. Gary worked as the Chief Inspector of Quality Control at Advance Transformer, retiring in 1999.

He belonged to the Badger Jim Beam Club, American Legion-Post #2930 in Portage, WI. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, bowling, golf, playing euchre at the American Legion in Montello, WI and poker at the Montello Rod and Gun Club, and was a die hard Green Bay Packer fan. Gary also enjoyed family gatherings to play Texas Hold'em and trips to the casino. He will be remembered best as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Janet of Montello; daughters: Marla (Tim) Petit of Monroe and Patty (Brian) Hammons of Orangeville, IL; grandchildren: Holly (Eric) Schaefer of Brodhead, Brandon (Emily Colden) Hammons of Brodhead, Gary Petit of Monroe, Brock Hammons of Orangeville, IL; and a great-grandchild-the future child of Holly and Eric Schaefer of Brodhead; Twin Brother, Larry Buholzer of Redding, CA; and a sister, Sharon (Keith Rothenbuehler) Campbell of Monroe, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo (Marjorie) Kraut; brother-in-law, Rich Campbell; cousins: Kenny, Karen, and Emil.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 16, 2013 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Tiff Bates officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.
