G. Jean Baumgartner, age 75 of Monroe, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. Jean was born on June 29, 1942 in Monroe, the daughter of John and Gladys (Thompson) Sager. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. Jean married Kent Baumgartner on December 26, 1959. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1994. Jean worked for several years at Kerr's Shoe Store and the Gift Castle. She was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church, The morning Optimist Club, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed bowling in various leagues and taking care of her flowers.
She is survived by a daughter, Tracey (Robert) Taylor of Show Low, AZ; a son, Bradley Baumgartner of Johnson Creek, WI; three grandchildren, Jayden and William Taylor, Otto Baumgartner. She is further survived by a brother, John (Doreen) Sager of Jupiter, FL; a sister, Donna Sager of Verona; and a sister-in-law, Doreen (Ken) Rothenbuehler of Janesville. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Ardell (Betty) Sager; and two sisters, Margaret Cheek and Mary Louise Sager.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke officiating. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Jean's name for the St. Clare of Assisi Holy Ground Campaign. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
