Frieda K. Siedschlag, age 90, of Monroe, died peacefully, on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, surrounded by her children. Frieda was born in Monroe, on February 24, 1926, the daughter of Casper and Elsie Durtschi.
Frieda and Lloyd G. Siedschlag were married on August 24, 1950 at St. John's United Church of Christ. She worked at The Monroe Clinic Hospital for 20 years.
Frieda was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ; she enjoyed gardening, spending time by the ocean; and spending time with her grandchildren.
Frieda is survived by her daughters, Mary (Mike) Schmid, Linda Farwell and son Paul (Annette) Siedschlag. Grandchildren, Jared (Daisy) Schmid, Jenna (Dave) Schmid, Alex Siedschlag, Kerry Siedschlag, Lizzie (Dylan) Siedschlag and brand new great-grandson, Kai Michael James Boehm; and a sister, Ida Swanton of Utah. Frieda waited a few hours, so she could embrace the esteemed title of great-grandma to Kai.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd in 2001; brothers, Fritz, William, Arthur, Alvin and Herman Durtschi; and sisters, Alice Holz, Emma Rund and Dorothy Lund.
Memorial service will be Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue, with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating, from St. John's United Church of Christ. Burial will be at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 28th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Frieda's name.
