Franklyn K. Hanson, age 83 of Browntown, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Frank was born February 25, 1925 in Jordan Center, the son of Arthur and Martha (Heller) Hanson Sr. He attended Jordan Center rural school. Frank served in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged in 1949. He married Carol J. Baars on June 24, 1949 in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 8, 1998. Mr. Hanson farmed in the Browntown, Winslow, and South Wayne areas until retiring in 1990.

Survivors include four children, Virginia (Dennis) Gerber of Monroe, Steven (Darlene) Hanson of Fort Mill, S.C., William (Nelda) Hanson of Richland Center, WI, and Robert Hanson of Browntown; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Winnie Haffele of Browntown. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Richard Hanson; two brothers, Gerald Hanson and Arthur "Bud" Hanson Jr.; and a sister, Phyllis Halvorson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Pastor Eric Erickson officiating. Interment will follow in Saucerman Cemetery, Cadiz Township. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 28, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from noon. until the time of service.
