Father Gregory A. Staab, O.M.V., died peacefully in Boston, MA, on March 1, after a long illness. Throughout his hospitalization, Father Greg maintained an active ministry, offering spiritual counsel, the sacraments and an untiring example of joy and patience.

Born June 11, 1957, in Cleveland, OH, and raised in Monroe, Fr. Greg was the third of nine children born to Eleanor M. and the late William J. Staab, MD. He graduated from Monroe HS in 1975, and after studying two years at UW Madison, joined the religious congregation of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. He was ordained to the priesthood by John Paul II on May 31, 1984, in Rome.

Father Greg served in Pinerolo, Italy, from 1984 to 1988. He returned to the USA and was assigned to St. Clement Eucharistic Shrine and Our Lady of Grace Seminary in Boston, where he served as Novice Master at Our Lady of Grace Seminary from 1991 to 1997. Father was the assistant pastor of St. Peter Chanel Church in Hawaiian Gardens, CA, from 1997 to 2004 and again in 2007. From 2004 to 2007, he served at an OMV parish in Ituzaingo, Argentina. Father was later sent to Cebu, Philippines, to train Oblate seminarians and after three years returned to Boston, where in 2014 he became a priest-in-residence at Our Lady of Grace Seminary.

A beloved priest, who could often be found hearing confessions around downtown Boston, even as his health diminished, he will be especially missed by the local young adult and student populations, whom he reminded always to "love the Immaculata." His family mourns the loss of a most dear son, brother and uncle and thank him for many wonderful times and blessings received.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Milton, MA, on March 7. Internment is at Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Grace Seminary, 1105 Boylston St. Boston, MA 02215.
