Emil Treuthardt

Emil Treuthardt, age 85 of Monroe, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Emil was born August 18, 1928 in Monticello, the son of David and Lydia (Leibungut) Treuthardt. He attended Shanghai and Hart Rural Schools. Emil attained the rank of private and earned the WWII Victory Medal while serving in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946. He married Catherine Whalen on June 16, 1984 in Rockton, IL. Emil's other love in life was driving truck which he did for most of his life. He worked for John Waelti from 1948 until purchasing the business in 1959 and operating Treuthardt Trucking until 1980. He bought his own truck in 1985 which he drove until 2008. He was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Treuthardt of Monroe; a son, Michael (Sherry) Treuthardt; a grandson, Aaron (Cheryl) Treuthardt, all of Brodhead; a sister, Mary (Bill) Mitchell of Colorado; five brothers, John (Rosemary) of Janesville, Walt of Monroe, Carl (Marjorie) of Argyle, Fritz of Belleville, and Henry (Chris) Treuthardt of Monroe; a sister-in-law, Gloria Treuthardt of Monroe; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy Gavigan in 1999; and four brothers, Louie, Frank, Dave, and Robert Treuthardt.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 12:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Father Michael Klarer officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged to the Green County Humane Society or Monroe Clinic Hospice.
