WARREN - Emil R. Burri, 89, passed away June 19, 2008 at Freeport Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 21, 1918 in Monroe, WI, to Alfred and Ardeena (Mellenberger) Burri. He married Doris Hicks on December 28, 1940 in Wiota, WI. Emil worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for many years and was a volunteer fireman for the Warren Fire Department. He enjoyed bowling, yard work, and was an avid Packers and Cubs fan.
He is survived by two daughters: Pat (Jack) Workinger of Lena and Nancy (Gene) Mills of Freeport; four grandchildren: Holly (Scott) Gobeli of Winslow, Tina (Jeff) Myers of Dallas Center, IA, Jeff (Cyndi) Aurand of Freeport, and Amy (Brad) Curtis of Lena; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by 3 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, a special neighbor, Lowell Phillips, and a special companion, Cali, his cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 sister, and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the time of service on Monday.
A memorial has been established in his name.
