Elaine M. Kundert, age 90 of Monroe, passed away on November 11, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born May 28, 1920 in Lafayette County, the daughter of Elmer and Marie (Hanson) Erickson. She graduated from Monticello High School and Green County Teacher's College and taught rural school in Green County and Winnebago County in Illinois. She also did substitute teaching in the Monroe and Lena-Winslow School districts. She was a Real Property Lister in the Green County Treasurer's office for several years.

Alvin E. Kundert and Elaine were married on July 25, 1944 in Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello. They farmed in Durand Illinois, for two years and then on the Kundert farm in Cadiz township, later moving to a residence there. After Alvin's death in 1989, she moved to Holcombe WI where they had built a home on the shore of Lake Holcombe. She resided there until 1994, when she moved back to Monroe.

She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and attended Lake Holcombe Methodist Church while residing there. She was a member of the Lake Holcombe Women's Club and an associate member of the Real Property Lister's Association of WI.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Carla Borsdorf), and John (Eleanor) of Winnipeg MB Canada, three grandsons, Douglas, Jason (Amy) and Christopher (Jess) of Rice MN, and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Kate. She is also survived by her dear sister, Joyce Morell of Freeport, IL, a sister-in-law, Lucy Lisser of Beaver Dam, WI, two nieces and one nephew, two very special friends, Kathy Lincicum and Sherrie Ellsworth, numerous cousins and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin and her beloved son Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Monroe United Methodist Church with Pastor Pat Soddy officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Monday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe. A Memorial Fund is being established in Elaine's memory.
