Edward A. Riese, age 79 of Monticello, died at his home on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 following a battle with cancer. Ed was born on August 3, 1936 in Monticello, the son of Frank and Ardys (Wallom) Riese. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1955 and served in the National Guard from 1953 until 1960. Ed married Donna Koller on September 17, 1955 at the Monticello E.U.B. Church. He farmed in Exeter and Mt. Pleasant Townships for many years and was also self employed as a master plumber and certified pump installer. Ed sold his pump business in 1995 and worked for Federal Industries until retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Washington Reformation United Church of Christ, Monticello Fire Department, chairman and supervisor of the Mt. Pleasant Town Board, WI Towns Association, and a 60 year member of the Rock River Thresheree. His favorite hobbies were woodworking, restoring and collecting antique machinery, and making wine.

Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Riese of Monticello; three children, David (Sandy) Riese of Chattanooga, TN, Kristine Peterson (Clair Coleman) of Holmen, WI, and Bryon (Lynda) Riese of Belleville; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Mara, Katie, and Matthew Riese, Adam (Cassie) Peterson, Erin (Brad) Saari, Maggie (Kyle) Gran, and Emma Riese; and four great grandchildren, Kendall, Avery, Allison, and Jaxon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in childhood, Wilbur "Willy" Riese.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Washington Reformation U.C.C., N6026 Church Road, Monticello, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Ed's name to the Washington Church or Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E.
