LENA - Edith Jean Jogerst went home to be with her Lord on December 23, 2008 at the Lena Nursing Center, in Lena, Illinois. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Edith was born on August 6, 1934 in Oneco Township. She was the daughter of Victor and Isabelle Schulz Welz of rural Orangeville and was an only child. Edith attended Orangeville Schools and graduated in 1952. On April 27, 1958, she married R. Dale Jogerst in Orangeville and she lived in Lena, Illinois all of her life.
She was employed my Micro Switch as a secretary and then later a Time Study Coordinator. Later she worked as an independent reporter for the Lena Scope publication, a seasonal employee for Kolb-Lena Cheese with her subsequent employment as an independent contractor for the United States Postal Service in Lena. Throughout the years, Edith held a Real Estate license and assisted her husband with his office operations in his insurance and appraisal business in Lena.
She was a member of the Martintown Community Church, Lena Topps, Illinois and National Board of Realtors, a Cub Scout Leader, Gideon's Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed traveling, spending time in the garden, watching birds, and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Jogerst is survived by her husband, R. Dale Jogerst of Lena; and two sons, Richard D (Nancy) Jogerst and Larry E. (Angie) Jogerst, both of Lena. Mrs. Jogerst has one grandchild, Cindy Jogerst of Lena and four step-grandchildren, James McGowan of Champaign, Illinois, Sadie McGowan of Waverly, Iowa, Cody Kaiser of Winslow, and Megan Kaiser of Lena.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday December 29, 2008 at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Cernek and will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. Interment will be at Lena Burial Park immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her memory for Hospice, Stephenson County Gideon's and the Salvation Army. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leamonfh.com
