E. Catherine Frauchiger, age 85 of Monroe, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born September 23, 1923 at Jordan Center, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Chappell) Miller and attended Jordan Center School and one year of high school.
Catherine and William F. Frauchiger were married April 28, 1941 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe and they farmed in the Browntown area for many years. Catherine also worked at Oaktron Industries and with her husband in the wall washing business. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown and enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, dancing, and playing guitar. She started the Jordan Center school reunions and continued them every year with 2008 being her last.
She is survived by two daughters, Anita Schmidt of Friendship and Billie (Carl) Reynolds of Monroe; eight grandchildren, Bradley Johnson of Dodgeville, Rebecca Johnson of Blanchardville, Dawn Friedli of South Wayne, Dena Roberts of Cambridge, Chad (Kaytrina) Friedli of Marshfield, Cory (Katie) Reynolds of McFarland, Melissa (Daniel) Perdue of Monroe & Casey Reynolds of Monroe; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; eight step-grandchildren, Douglas, David (Susan), and Steven (Barbara) Reynolds of Apple River, IL, Daniel (Jeanette) Reynolds of Lena, IL, Timothy (Nancy) and Jeffrey (Laura) Reynolds and Sharon Brinkmeier of Warren, IL, and Jacqueline (James) Fero of Whitewater; 18 step-great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-great-grandchildren; a Goddaughter, Marie (Dave) Friedli; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her parents; beloved husband, Bill, on Oct. 5, 1997; daughter, Beverly Kae Johnson of a brain aneurism; sisters, Alice DeNure and Nellie Roehl; brothers, John, Lawrence, William and Alfred Miller; son-in-law, Michael Schmidt; step-granddaughter, Brenda Reynolds; one step-great-grandson; and two step-great-great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at PEACE UNITED CHURCH 0f CHRIST in Browntown with Pastor Ray Sowersby officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe, WI.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe, WI and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church.
A memorial fund is being established in Catherine's memory.
