She was born January 2, 1927 in Adams Township in Green County, Wisconsin the daughter of Casper and Stella (Johnson) Nybroten. Dorothy attended Meadow Brook Country School where she walked two-and-a-half miles a day through fields and snow. She later graduated from Argyle High School in 1944. Dorothy graduated in 1948 from U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps as an R.N. at Swedish American Hospital.

While at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL, Dorothy met her husband, Arvid Wicklund. They were married on August 9, 1949. Dorothy and Arvid started farming in Winslow and the Twin Grove area in 1954 and then in Wiota Township from 1960 - 1995. Dorothy worked at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe from 1961 - 1988 while raising 6 kids on the farm. Her children are not quite sure when she found time to sleep.

After selling the family farm in 1995 they moved to St. Germain to relax, play cards, and fish in the Northwoods. Dorothy moved to Aster Retirement Community in 2013 to be closer to her kids.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Ruth (Richard) Heimann of Monticello, WI, Laurel Wicklund of Freeport, IL, Keith (Chris) Wicklund of Rockton, IL, Nancy (Rich) Bracco of Petaluma, CA, Marc Wicklund of Lake Mills, WI, Karen Wicklund of Monroe; and a "special 5th daughter:" Diane (Rich) Krebs of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Marilyn Bahe of Monroe. Dorothy was a member of St. Germain Community Church in St. Germain and a former member of Wiota Lutheran Church. She loved her grandkids and worried too much about her kids. She loved to play cards and dominos especially with her grandchildren where she insisted on being the scorekeeper and was often accused of "cheating" to win. Dorothy loved feeding her friends the deer in the Northwoods, playing bingo, playing lottery tickets, going to garage sales, and collecting depression glass. She was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. Dorothy was the sweetest caring person, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and nurse. She will truly be missed.
