Dorothea (Sacker) Meier, age 80 of Azura Memory Care of Monroe, Wisconsin entered eternal rest on Friday, June 7, 2013. She was born December 20, 1932, the daughter of Edward and Frieda (Pehl) Sacker. "Dort" attended Woodford and South Wayne Grade School, and South Wayne High School where she was Valedictorian of the class of 1950.

Dorothea and Wesley Meier married on April 1, 1950 at the Evangelical Reformed Parsonage in Browntown. They were blessed with five children: Dennis (Maris) Meier of Monroe, WI; Diane (Don) Hawkinson of Gratiot, WI; Gary Meier of Russellville, AR; Russell (Corrine) Meier of Monroe, WI; and Timothy (Lisa Kolosso) Meier of Verona, WI. Besides her children, Dorothea is also survived by 11 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; her oldest sister, Betty Alston of Lakewood Village, TX; brother, Nathan (Shirley) Sacker of DeLand, FL; youngest sister, Caroline (Gerald) Ontjes of Ridott, IL; and sisters-in-law, Betty West of Rockford, IL & Rosemary (Gaylord) Voegeli of Monroe, WI. Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley on April 19, 2013; parents, Edward & Frieda (Pehl) Sacker; her father & mother-in-law, Freddie & Alta (Hale) Meier; and granddaughter, Megan O. Meier, daughter of Timothy Meier & Lisa Kolosso of Verona, WI.

Dorothea lived in the Woodford, Browntown, and South Wayne areas most of her life retiring with her husband to Monroe in 2004 and moving to Angelus Retirement Community in January of 2009. She was a member of the South Wayne United Methodist Church most of her life, serving in many capacities and attended Monroe United Methodist Church. Dort enjoyed working at The Swiss Colony, Inc. in Monroe, the Bank of South Wayne, & Pecatonica Coop Oil Co. in South Wayne. She enjoyed spending time with family and taking care of the church, caring for her flower beds, doing word searches, putting together numerous Jig Saw Puzzles and gluing them which she gave as gifts. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe and from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Union Cemetery in South Wayne, WI.

A Memorial Fund is being established in Dorothea's memory.
