JANESVILLE - Doris Mason-Meier, age 89, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Ft. Atkinson, WI. She was born on November 27, 1918, the daughter of Elmer and Bessie (Loomis) Phillips and was raised in the Monroe area where she attended Banner and Jordan Center Schools. Doris married Earl Mason Jr. on April 9, 1935, in Freeport, IL. He died on Dec. 18, 1970. Doris and Earl had resided in Janesville. Doris worked for 28 1/2 years for Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1981. Upon retiring, she married Eugene Meier on July 18, 1981, at First Baptist Church. He died April 5, 2003. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she had been a past Youth Group Leader and Deaconess.

Doris is survived by her children: Lois (James) Rebman and Wayne Mason, both of Janesville, Ardith (Harrolle) Baker, Avis (Russell) Johnson, and June Mason, all of Ft. Atkinson, and Diane (James) Bassett of Couderay, WI; 3 step-daughters: Karen (Oscar) Seibel of Middleton, Kristine (Kevin) Winkler of Monroe, Debbie Watkins of California; a step-son, Daniel (Debbie) Meier of Manitowish Waters, WI; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, Larry Mason; a grandson, Wesley Wagner; her parents; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are preferred to St. Jude's Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 3414 Woodhall Dr., Janesville, WI. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
