Doris A. Willborn, age 89 of Monroe, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at the New Glarus Home.
Doris was born August 7, 1920 in Blanchardville, WI, the daughter of Ingvall and Estella (Retrum) Nelson. She graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1939. Doris and Richard Willborn were married on August 27, 1940 in Dubuque, IA. They lived on farms and cheese factories in the Monticello, Juda, Twin Grove and Monroe area.
She was a member of the East Clarno Zion United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the accordion.
Doris is survived by five children, Norma (Bill) Trickel of Monroe, Richard (Diane) Willborn of Freeport, IL, Ruth Ann (Fred) Siegenthaler of Verona, Mary Walmer, and Kathy (Dave) Kolden, all of Monroe; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; five brothers, Gerald (Beverly), Rolf (Claudia), Knute (Esther), Herbert (Emma Jean), and Clifford (Arlene) Nelson; and her sister, Irene Halverson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, on December 29, 1993; and two sisters, Helen Jacobson and Violet Dickinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Pastor Paul Gregersen officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
