BLANCHARDVILLE/MOUNT HOREB - Dora Belinda Kittleson, age 99 of the rural Mount Horeb-Blanchardville area died on Sunday morning, July 13, 2014 at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus. She was born on December 11, 1914 in York Township, Green County, Wisconsin to Hans and Bertha (Erickson) Brusveen. She attended a country school in the Blanchardville area and the New Glarus High School. Dora worked for other farm families before she was married. On December 31, 1937 she married Byron Lorraine Kittleson at the York Memorial Lutheran Church. After they were married, Byron & Dora broke the old tradition of the women sitting on one side of the church and the men sitting on the other at York Memorial. They wanted to sit together in worship. They farmed together in Perry Township, Dane County, Wisconsin until they left the farm in 1969 when their son Paul and his wife Sonja took over the farm. At that time they moved to the Indian Hill Cheese Factory in Kittleson Valley. She lived there until November of 2011 when she moved to assisted living at the Glarner Lodge where she remained until May 2014 when she transferred to The New Glarus Home. She was a very active member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church her whole life where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Dora loved gardening and growing flowers, especially roses. She cleaned for people in Madison until well into her 80's. She loved baking and cooking, especially lefse making which she passed onto her grandsons and family. She loved Christmas and all the decorating, baking and family gatherings that came with it.

Dora is survived by two children, her daughter Sonjia (Dennis) Healy of Rockford, Illinois, and her son Paul (Sonja) Kittleson of rural Mount Horeb; seven grandchildren, Brenda Knapp, Linda (Dan) DeBaere, Debra Jeglum Homola, Todd (Beth) Kittleson, Greg (Marni) Kittleson, Scott (Colleen) Kittleson, and Jason (Sateash) Kittleson; 15 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
