Donna Mueller Svendsen, age 79 of Monroe, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at the Harbor House. She was born on January 17, 1929, in Brooklyn Township, Green County, the daughter of Walter and Barbara (Rhyner) Christen. She attended the Dayton East country school, was a 1947 graduate of Belleville High School and graduate of Madison Business College.
Donna married Marion E. Mueller who preceded her in death and later married Victor Svendsen on October 20, 1980 in Monroe. Donna worked for Kuhne Lumber Company, Pleasant View Nursing Home, for 30 years, and later Preferred Living Home Care. She was a member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Argyle and Women of the Moose Chapter #599 in Monroe. Donna was an excellent quilter, she was known as a great baker, especially her pies and with great care she always maintained a large garden. But Donna's greatest love was to spending time with her children and spoiling her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Carl) Stickfort of Garnavillo, IA, Rhonda (John) Miller of Monroe and Chris Edler of Monroe; grandchildren, Kimberly (Roy) Hull, Kip (Mandy) Groom, Marion "Bob" (Missy) Carlson, Megan Stickfort, Chelsea Stickfort, Erica Stickfort, Delta Stickfort, Shawn Miller, Timothy Miller, Travis (Ilse) Edler, and Ashley (Brian Foster) Edler; step-children, Vicki (Jim) Banovsky of Cambridge, David Svendsen of Monticello, Diana (Tom) Bonk of Sunset Beach, NC, John Svendsen of Argyle, Mark (Lila) Svendsen of Monticello and Lori Voegeli of Monroe; step-grandchildren, Jamie (Keelie) Stenulson, Brandi (Steve) Lefeber, Bobbi (Keith) Blum, Brady (Kristi) Blum, Brittany (Pete Jordan) Blum, Daniel Svendsen, Scott (April) Svendsen, Jason Svendsen, Justin (Macy) Svendsen, Christopher Fawcett, Danielle Fawcett, Stephanie (Jeff Cook) Svendsen, Melissa Svendsen, Chad (Brittany Brooks) Svendsen, Jessica (Jim) Riese, Roseanna Hay, and Dustin Voegeli; a sister, Rowena Jorgenson of Florida; 9 great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. Donna was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Marion Mueller and Victor Svendsen; brother, John Christen; grandchildren, Kyle Groom and Corina Burton and a nephew, Steve Christen.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe. A Memorial service will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with Monsignor Thomas Campion officiating.
A memorial fund is being established in Donna's memory.
