WINDSOR - Dennis D. Gilbertson, age 62, of Windsor, Wis. passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on April 18, 1952 in Monroe, Wis., the son of Norman and Esther Gilbertson. Dennis graduated from Monroe High School in 1970. He began his career in business as an entrepreneur and selling insurance with various companies. He served in the Monroe Army National Guard in the late 70's and toured Germany where he was stationed for several weeks. He loved his tour while he was there. He transitioned into long haul trucking transport and would bring his children with at times. Later he was employed by the US Postal Service where he took a lot of pride in his work and serving as a Union Steward. During the last several years he was employed by UW Hospital where he was the supervisor of valet. He would talk about all the wonderful people he knew and served. Dennis loved family gatherings, playing with his grandchildren, traveling, helping people, and had strong spiritual beliefs.

Dennis is survived by his children, Abigail Haven (Special Friend - Amy), Douglas Gilbertson (Shanna), Zack Hofer (Stacey), & Haley Hofer; soul mate, Debra Peitz and her children, Jeff (Maureen), Victoria (Dan), Tammy, Jennifer (Rob), Michelle (Chris); grandchildren, Jayme, Jordin, Chelsey, Cheyenne, Courtney, Hunter, Alex, Elle, Jacob, Caleb, Ayden, Andraya, Kaetlynn, Ethan, & Harper; great-grandchild, Kailyn; wife, Sarah Hofer; former wife, Royletta Santos (Mother of Abigail and Douglas); brothers, James (Sandy) and David (Lois); and uncle, Victor Gilbertson. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald; and a sister, Geraldine Walters.

A memorial service will be held at WESTWOOD CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 5210 Odana Rd., Madison on Saturday January 10, 2015 beginning at 11 a.m. Family and friends are asked to come to the church from 9:00 am until the time of service with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings would be appreciated and will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer Research in Denny's name.
