DeLos Williamson Bourquin, 93, of Warren, Illinois passed away on May 25, 2014 at home. DeLos was born on February 14, 1921 at the family home in Rush Township, the son of John Ross and Sara A. (Williamson) Bourquin. He was the second of four children.
DeLos was a lifelong farmer in JoDaviess County. As a young boy he farmed with his father John as well as his grandfather Ariste who immigrated from Switzerland. Even at 93 he kept his eye on all Bill and Lucas' farming activities from his favorite chair and den window.
On November 23, 1944 DeLos married Verlis June Gates. They were parents of two children Barbara and David. June died on May 21, 1949.
In 1954 DeLos moved to the farm outside of Warren where he would live for the rest of his life. On September 8, 1954 DeLos was blessed again with his marriage to Jeanette Kaiser. Together they raised Barbara and David and added Christine and Bill to the family. They were married 50 years when Jeanette passed away on August 7, 2005.
DeLos is survived by his children: Barbara (Wayne) Peacock of Flager Beach, FL, David (Laura) Bourquin of Brodhead, WI, Christine Bourquin of Wheeling, IL, and William DeLos (Sue) Bourquin of Warren, IL, and grandchildren: Lynette (Dave) Gdovka, Brian (Jill) Peacock, Stephanie (Justin) Bruno, Shannon (Danny) Capri, Brad (Lisa) Bourquin, Dan (Jamie) Bourquin, Matt Bourquin, Lucas (Lisa) Bourquin, Ann Bourquin, Olivia Bloechl, and Stephanie (Peter) Anderson, and great-grandchildren: Ava Gdovka, Sara Gdovka, Nick Gdovka, Brynn Peacock, Brady Peacock, Max Bourquin, Kendel Bourquin, Asher DeLos Capri, Riley Bourquin, Calvin Bourquin, Sophia Bloechl, and Sylvia Bloechl Anderson.
DeLos was dedicated to his family and his farm. He always looked forward to the next visit from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an honorable man, well respected and liked by all who knew him. His historic perspective on farming, animals and life was a welcome topic of conversation with his friends, neighbors and acquaintances. He was also a member of the Warren United Methodist Church, and the current president of the Warren Farmers Exchange Co-op.
DeLos was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah, his wives June and Jeanette; sisters Grace Gaulrapp, Helen Schaible; and brother Robert Bourquin. He was a genuine and gentle soul who will be deeply missed. We will forever remember our dad, DeLos Bourquin.
