Colleen M. Hasler, age 91 of Monroe, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. Colleen was born on February 3, 1927 in Monroe, the daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Naef) Meier. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1944 and attended the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology. She married Peter Hasler on November 17, 1946 at St. John's Church of Christ, Monroe. Colleen and Peter farmed in Monroe Township for 26 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Women of the Moose #599 for over 50 years, and enjoyed volunteering for the Monroe Clinic Hospice.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Lehr of Pittsburg, TX, and Kathryn (Terry) Casey of Roberts, WI; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Hasler of Monroe; a son-in-law, Roger Drach of Parkridge, IL; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, in 2000; four children, Don Hasler in 1989, Rose Augsburg-Drach in 1999, Fred Hasler in 2001, and Ann Voegeli in 2014; a grandson, Brian Monte in 2009, and a brother, Alfred J. Meier.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1724 14th Street, Monroe, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 15, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 1329 31st Avenue, Monroe, and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
