Cleo M. Rufi, age 85, of Monroe died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Rest Haven Health Care Center in Verona. She was born on February 18, 1929 in Monroe, the daughter of Arnold and Phyllis (Deremer) Mueller. She was a graduate of Monroe High School. Cleo and John B. Rufi were married on February 18, 1952 at St. John's United Church of Christ. She farmed with her husband John in Sylvester Township until their retirement in 1978. Cleo then worked for a local Swiss cheese store, later for Marty Ripp Chevrolet and then JH Barkau & Sons car dealership. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #599 being a former Senior Regent, also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Cleo was an avid knitter, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and following sporting events of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn E. Martin of Monroe, Rena M. Ripp of Waunakee; grandchildren, Phillip Rufi, Ryan Rufi, Joshua (Dara) Bevars, Chad (Jennifer) Bevars and April Bevars; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Mueller; brother-in-law, Robert (Barb) Rufi. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, John; brothers, Robert, Marion, and Phillip Mueller.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., with the Women of the Moose service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
