The court Friday scheduled a Jan. 4 pretrial conference for Jory T. Keating, 21, Monroe, who pleaded not guilty to charges related to a disturbance.
Court records allege he put a woman in a headlock, pushed her, slapped her and pushed her off a deck Oct. 26 at a residence in Monroe. He also allegedly broke a computer.
He is charged with strangulation and suffocation, a class F felony; battery and criminal damage to property, both class A misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than 13 years in prison and up to $46,000 in fines, if convicted. He remains free on a $3,000 signature bond.
Misdemeanors
The court Tuesday fined Damen C. Nipple, 29, Monroe, $236 after he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct.
He faced up to three months in jail and up to $1,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class B misdemeanor.
Court records indicate he yelled a woman and threw things at her Nov. 1, 2009, in a Monroe residence.
The court Friday fined Sean U. Thurman, 23, Freeport, $309 after he pleaded no contest to criminal damage to property.
He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 for the class A misdemeanor.
The court dismissed one count of obstructing an officer and two counts of disorderly conduct. He originally faced up to two years in jail and up to $22,0000 in fines.
Court records indicate he punched a car window and broke the window June 20 at a Monroe business.
