FELONIES
Timothy Scott Miller, 29, Brodhead, was charged Sept. 22 with a Class H felony charge of strangulation after a case of domestic abuse was reported on Sept. 10. At a residence in the 1200 block of 12th Avenue in Monroe, Miller reportedly repeated shouted at and insulted a woman before grabbing her and punching her and then placing her in a choke hold. According to a police report, Miller became angry at the victim when she refused to have sex with him. Miller was also charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14.
MISDEMEANORS
Michael B. Bowling, 20, Monroe, was charged Sept. 23 with misdemeanor counts of obstructing an officer, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct after an incident on Sept. 22. According to police reports, Bowling got into an argument with another man on Facebook. The argument escalated until Bowling started making threats toward the other man and drove by his house. When the other man approached Bowling's house in the 1500 block of 19th Avenue in Monroe, Bowling used a baseball bat to shatter one of the headlights on the man's vehicle. When officers were called to the scene, Bowling attempted to flee. A not guilty plea was entered on Bowling's behalf on Sept. 26. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Nov. 15.
Brock Allan Westby Hess, 21, Monticello, was charged Monday with a misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer. The charge is in addition to charges of disorderly conduct and bail jumping Hess accrued in an incident on Aug. 5. According to police reports, Hess attempted to resist being handcuffed as officers arrested him on those counts. Hess' initial appearance is scheduled for Oct. 3.
Jason Robert Quintero, 43, Monroe, was charged Monday with a misdemeanor count of trespassing after an intoxicated Quintero attempted to enter a stranger's residence in the 2000 block of 12th Street in Monroe on Sept. 24. After his arrest, Quintero said he thought the residence belonged to a friend. Quintero has a pre-trial conference scheduled for Oct. 25.
Mitchell Lee Hefty, 54, Eland, was charged Monday with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct after he was involved in an altercation with a woman in the 700 block of North Cincinnati Street in Albany on Aug. 21. Hefty became angry with a female passenger in his vehicle before, when stopped at a gas station, he shouted at her, threw her possessions out of the vehicle and then pushed her back into the vehicle when she attempted to leave. Hefty has an initial appearance scheduled for Oct. 17.
