Buddy Lee Brown, 20, Juda, pleaded no contest Friday, Oct. 12, to a misdemeanor charge of battery stemming from an arrest July 1 on County K in the Town of Spring Grove. Court records indicate he was physically violent toward his mother. He was granted a one-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that he attend anger management counseling and monitoring conferences. He owes the court $343.
Lisa M. Valentin, 38, Monroe, pleaded guilty Friday, Oct. 12, to a Class I felony charge of failing to pay child support in 2010. A charge of failing to pay child support in 2011 was dismissed. She was granted a two-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that she find and maintain employment and pay her current child support obligations and a total of $7,430.85 from previous obligations.
Tina M. Johnsrud, 41, Belleville, was charged Thursday, Oct. 11, with three Class A misdemeanor counts of theft and one Class I felony count of possessing narcotic drugs. Court records indicate in November 2011 she stole $150 to $200 in cash from a residence on Dohm Drive in the Town of Exeter; in May she stole $300 in cash from a residence on Hillcrest Road in the Town of Exeter; and in July she stole about 30 Oxycodone pills from the same residence on Dohm Drive. Her initial appearance is Oct. 29.
MISDEMEANORS
Jeffrey James Johnson, 42, Brodhead, pleaded no contest Wednesday, Oct. 10, to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from an arrest July 30 in the 600 block of West 3rd Avenue in Brodhead. Court records indicate he yelled at, pushed and repeatedly punched a woman. He was granted a one-year deferred prosecution and ordered to pay the court $163.
Abigail K. Jones, 18, Clinton, pleaded no contest Wednesday, Oct. 10, to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution. The charge stems from an arrest in July in Albany. Conditions of her deferred prosecution include paying a $389.50 underage drinking ticket and undergoing an assessment for alcohol and other drug abuse.
Matthew L. Sturdevant, 23, Evansville, pleaded no contest Thursday, Oct. 11, to a misdemeanor charge of battery stemming from an arrest Aug. 24 at a residence on Nye Road in the Town of Exeter. Charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property were dismissed. Court records indicate he punched a woman. He was granted a one-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that he attend anger management and behavior counseling, attend monitoring conferences and continue addiction counseling. He owes the court $243.
Nathan Robert Mitchell Sweet and Orrin Hoyt Marsden, both 20 and from Monroe, were charged this week with one Class A misdemeanor count each of receiving stolen property. The charges stem from allegations that Sweet and Marsden hid four stolen guns from Albany in their homes in Monroe between May 9 and May 31, 2011. The stolen cache of guns reportedly included a Smith and Wesson .357 caliber Magnum revolver worth $500 and a Colt .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol worth $400. Sweet pleaded not guilty to the charge. Marsden makes his initial appearance in court Nov. 5.
Trisha Mary Miller, 20, Monroe, was charged Thursday, Oct. 11, with a Class A misdemeanor charge of endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon. The charge stems from an incident Sept. 27 in an apartment building in the 300 block of 2nd Street in Monroe. Court records indicate Miller negligently handled a 12-gauge shotgun, causing it to discharge a slug without warning into the ceiling and apartment above. Her initial appearance is scheduled Oct. 29.
