• James M. Hurtley, 24, Evansville, was granted a nine-month stay of proceedings and dismissal Tuesday, Nov. 27, on a Class A misdemeanor charge of writing worthless checks totaling 73.08 in July 2011 to Kundert Oil Company/Lucky 7, 317 8th St., Monroe. Court records indicate he has paid his restitution of $388.07 in full. Conditions of his deferred prosecution include paying $482 in forfeitures and fees on municipal ordinance violations with the City of Brodhead for writing worthless checks.
