MISDEMEANORS

- Monty Odell Morris, 39, Rockton, Ill., pleaded no contest Tuesday, June 19, to a Class A misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer and was fined $631. A misdemeanor charge of operating a firearm while intoxicated was dismissed. The charges stem from a Dec. 26 incident outside a home in the N200 block of Hartman Road in the Town of Spring Grove. A co-defendent, Danny Elbert Shickles, 36, Brodhead, pleaded no contest to the same charges in April and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution and also fined $631. Court records indicate Morris' $500 cash bail was applied to his fine, so he only still owes the remainder, $131.

- Ryan Lee Bergemann, 36, Brodhead, pleaded no contest Wednesday, June 20, to a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident in March at a home in Brodhead. A related charge of battery was dismissed. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail with Huber Law work-release privileges and fined $343. He also pleaded no contest to a Class A misdemeanor charge of bail jumping, stemming from a traffic stop in Monroe on June 13, when police reportedly found evidence that Bergemann, a passenger in the stopped vehicle, had been drinking in violation of his bond. He was fined an additional $442 on this conviction.

- Calli Carroll, 25, Orange Beach, Ala., pleaded no contest to a Class H felony charge of forgery and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution on the conditions that she pay back a restitution of $537.25 with her co-defendent, Samuel R. Schutte, 27, Monroe, and complete a comprehensive treatment program for her alcohol and substance abuse issues. Related charges were dismissed against Carroll of forgery, theft and writing worthless checks. Court records indicate the charges stem from forged checks written to businesses in Monroe in 2011, as well as a July 2011 theft of tools (later pawned) from a home in the W6600 block of Smock Valley Road in the Town of Monroe.

- Two Class A misdemeanor charges of theft were filed Wednesday, June 20, against Thomas R. Schmid, 22, Monroe. Court records indicate Schmid took a 2000 Chevrolet Venture minivan, without permission, from a residence in the 900 block of Old Highway Road on April 10 and then sold it to a salvage yard for $316.35. The complaint also alleges Schmid took a Case bulldozer worth $3,500 from the same residence on April 25, again without permission, and sold it to a salvage yard for $774. Schmid's initial appearance in court is scheduled June 25.
