Green County
Felonies
Nathan Robert Mitchell Sweet, 20, jailed in Monroe, pleaded no contest Wednesday, Feb. 27, to a Class I felony charge of possessing narcotic drugs. A misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property was dismissed but "read in," meaning the judge considered it in his sentencing. Sweet was sentenced to three years of probation, ordered to pay restitution, seek treatment for alcohol abuse and undergo any recommended counseling. He is also ordered to never again possess a firearm. Once he gets out of jail, he must obtain and maintain employment. Court records indicate Sweet and an accomplice hid four stolen guns from Albany in their homes in Monroe in May 2011, including a Smith and Wesson .357 caliber Magnum revolver worth $500. Sweet is also convicted of possessing fentanyl, a potent narcotic analgesic, in July in the 1200 block of 19th Street, Monroe.
