Felonies
Tyler J. Engelke, 18, Brodhead, was released on a $2,500 signature bond on Monday with additional conditions that he have no contact with the co-defendant in this case, the Decatur Dairy Co-op Cheese Factory, or the alleged victims in this case. Engelke is charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor count of intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on June 14. Court records indicate Engelke drove a minor to the Decatur Dairy Co-op Cheese Factory with the intent to steal an envelope of coins. The minor allegedly entered a residence above the factory by cutting a mesh screen window and took an envelope filled with about $790 worth of coins. Engelke then took the coins to a bank and cashed them in. The minor told law enforcement she used the cash to buy clothes and marijuana. Some of the cash was recovered from the minor totaling $374.88. Engelke has a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 25.
