NEW GLARUS - Christine L. Ott nee Egger passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1926 in Giessen/Hessen, Germany, the daughter of Marie Katherine and Heinrich J. Althaus. Christine was raised and educated in Germany and continued her education at Valparaiso Extension in Chicago. She was employed for ten years as a Secretary for the Illinois Agricultural Association in Chicago and worked for twenty-six years as Secretary and National/International Sales Correspondent for Rotodyne Dynamics (formerly known as Ideal Roller Graphics Co.) Christine was first married to Roy John Egger from November 10, 1951 until his death in 1991. On October 26, 1995 she was united in marriage to Quinton John Ott of New Glarus at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She enjoyed life, the company of her friends, traveling, and winters in Arizona with her late husband Quinton. She was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Green County Association for Home and Community Education, American Legion Auxiliary, Edelweiss Chalet Country Club, and served a three year term on the Advisory Board at the Bank of New Glarus.
Survivors are two step-sons; John B. (Mary) Ott of New Glarus and Alvin G. (Janice) Ott and family of Fairbanks, AK, step-grandsons Kevin J. (Jane) Ott of Chicago, IL, Joel M. Ott of Madison, WI, and Adam J. Ott of Chicago, IL. her extended family Roger and Karen Nodorft and family as well as friends and loving cousins in California, Illinois, Canada, and Germany.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Roy and late husband Quinton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 506 12th Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Mark Renner officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery in New Glarus.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI.
Memorials may be made to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
Christine felt fortunate to have the love and devotion of two men during her lifetime. She left good wishes and a special thank you to her step family, the John and Mary Ott and Alvin and Janice Ott families and to her adopted family, Karen and Roger Nodorft & family, and to all her friends. She also left deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Pastor Gene Tally and Pastor Mark Renner and friends at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
Christine was a great conversationalist full of captivating stories and wise words. Her independent and lively nature, sense of humor and caring ways will be remembered by those who knew her well. Heaven received the special gift of Christine on Christmas Day. May you rest in peace, free of pain, in the comfort of God's loving embrace.
