ORANGEVILLE - Cheryl M. Zimmerman, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born on May 12, 1923 in Dakota, IL to Martin and Hazel (Reed) Kramer.
Cheryl was a graduate of Orangeville High School in the class of 1942. She attended beauty school in Madison, WI and received her certificate on Nov. 7, 1946 and her Illinois license on September 1, 1947.
She married Raymond G. Zimmerman on September 26, 1948 at the United Brethren Church in Orangeville, IL. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2006. She owned and operated in her home a beauty salon in Orangeville from 1947 till 2001 when she retired. She loved animals, taught Sunday School for many years and belonged to the Odd Fellows Ladies Club. She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Orangeville. She enjoyed crocheting, her rose garden and playing Rummy and games.
She is survived by one daughter: Rae (Keith) Helland of Juda, WI; two sons: Kim and Dean Zimmerman of Wheeling, IL; two grandchildren: Troy and Kristi; one sister: Shirley Kleckler of Winslow, IL; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers: Wayne and Herbert Kramer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Grace Free Evangelical Church in Orangeville, IL.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home in Orangeville.
Officiating will be Albert Lambert.
Private family burial will be in Silent Hill Cemetery in McConnell, at a later date.
A memorial has been established in her name.
