BRODHEAD - Charles H. Scriven, age 76, formerly of Brodhead, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on July 13, 1931 in Janesville, WI, the son of Helmar and Ella Scriven, and was raised by his step-mother, Jessie Scriven.
Charlie lived with Harold and Ardell Swedlund of Juda, WI, for the past 6 months. He was a familiar face in the Brodhead area, known for mowing lawns, shoveling walks, and fixing small engines, for many people in the area. Many people will remember Charlie setting pins for the Brodhead bowling alley. He obtained his small engine repair certification from Blackhawk Tech. in 1979. He was an avid John Wayne fan.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and there are no immediate survivors.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Pastor Steve Groves officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead.
