Charles G. Schultz, 86, of Monroe passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 25, 1931, the son of Carl and Adele (Wegner) Schultz in Milwaukee. When he was two weeks old, his family moved to Butternut. He had many fond memories of his childhood in Butternut. He graduated from Menasha High School in 1948. He received his degree in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1954, where he met his future wife, Jeanne A. Peloquin. They were married on July 30, 1955 in Milwaukee.
Charles worked for Red Cross Drug in Racine, and then moved to Waukegan, IL where he worked for Abbott Labs doing research. He purchased Blumer Pharmacy in Monroe in 1964, which is still in business today and is now known as Schultz Pharmacy. He took great pleasure in opening and running the Gift Castle for many years. He put his heart and soul into all of his endeavors.
Charles was passionate about all things German and loved cooking and great food. He had an appreciation for music and taught himself how to play the accordion. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage up north.
Charles is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Monroe; children, Karen (Tom) Vale of Monroe, Gretchen (Chuck) Klass of Naples, FL, Karla (Joe) Ripp of Monroe, Carl of Monroe, and Lisa (Brian) Wilsey of Madison; brothers, Hilbert (Evelyn) Schultz and David (Marion) Schultz; grandchildren, Brittany (Derek) Klitzke, Erin Vale, Daniel Vale, Eric Vale, Jason Klass, Brad Ripp, Zach Ripp, and Alexis Klass; step-grandchildren, Kim Vandivier and Tiffany Ripp; great-granddaughter, Olivia Klitzke; step-great-grandchildren, McKenna and Max Vandivier; and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchildren, Emily Vale and Christian Wilsey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Strutz officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 on Thursday, March 1, 2018 and on Friday at 10:00 AM until the time of service at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established in Charles' name.
