Charlene Jo Ames, 68, of Monroe passed away, surrounded by her family, on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born at home in Shullsburg on October 7, 1949 the daughter of Vernon and Delores (Negus) Lyne. She attended Shullsburg grade school and high school. Charlene was married to James E. Wiegel on April 26, 1969, together they had six children. She was later united in marriage to Bruce R. Ames on January 4, 1992.

Charlene had been employed as a cook at the Wheel Inn in Shullsburg and a retirement home, Advance Transformers in Monroe as well as a bakery when she lived in Crivitz, WI. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, puzzles, and crafts such as: sewing and painting ceramics. Charlene also enjoyed supporting her grandson in his Special Olympic events and cheering on his bowling and basketball teams.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her children, Tony Wiegel of Spring Green, Travis (Barb) Wiegel of Avoca, Troy (Missy) Wiegel of Shullsburg, Tonia (Tim) Williams of Monroe, and Tianna (Mike) Colvin of Monroe; 14 grandchildren, Allie (David) Crissy, Karlie Wiegel, Ashley Giltner, Dylan Wiegel, Amanda Williams, Kelsey Wiegel, Tyler Richards, Gage Meyer, Tyler Williams, Melissa Richards, Megan Wiegel, Tessa Wiegel, Billy Meyer, Ethan Wiegel, and Abby Wiegel, 4 great-grandchildren, Easton Giltner, Kylee and Lakyn Hagen and Kayden Amaro-Wiegel; sisters, Karen Bolen of Freeport, Darlene (Suzie) Lyne of Fort Dodge, IA, and Sarah (Randy) Wacha of Lorimar, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Kipper; brother, Clarence "Buster" Lyne, son, Todd Wiegel; nephew, Dale Kipper.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home with Chaplain Sue Hall officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Seymour Catholic Cemetery.
