Carol J. Lanz, 79, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, August 7, 2008, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, following a very brief illness.
A native of Wisconsin, Carol had been a resident of Henderson County since 1989. She enjoyed creating Deco-art for many years, was an avid gardener, and was also a past secretary of the Hendersonville Women's Club. Carol was also an avid hiker, having hiked over seven thousand miles with her husband, James, and had been a member of the "Pisgah Hikers." She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, sister, and aunt; surviving her is her loving husband of 58 years, James "Bud" Lanz; three children, Suzon Lanz of Woodridge, IL; Cindy Kubly and her husband, Curt of Nashville, TN, and Paul James Lanz and his wife Susan of Madison, WI; ten grandchildren, Lisa Moeller, Joshua Kubly, Niki Folven, Wendy Duffy, Meaghan Stafford, Connor Lanz, Aaron Kubly, Cade Kubly, Isabelle Lanz, and Ava Folven; one brother, Arthur Blum and his wife Betty of Monroe, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Williams officiating. Family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. An additional memorial service will be held in Monroe, WI at a later date.
