Carol E. Hocking, 88, of Platteville, Wisconsin, formerly of Benton, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Benton with Pastor Rick McDermott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Benton. Friends may also call from 11-12:45 a.m. Monday at the church before the service.
Carol was born on December 21, 1928, in Janesville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Marvin V. and Winnifred C. (Lee) Paulson. She married Harold E. Hocking on June 23, 1947, in Apple Grove Lutheran Church in Argyle.
Carol worked at the Benton Thrift Shop. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Women's Group, serving as its treasurer for many years. She enjoyed bowling, gambling, reading, traveling and dancing. Family was very important to her. She was a mom and grandma to everyone. Carol just loved life in general.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Jo (Irwin) Frank, of Benton, Linda (Thomas) Brines, of Shullsburg, and Diane (Everette) Mau and Becky (Dan) Kilcoyne, both of Benton; two sons, John (Kay) Hocking, of Cuba City, and Mark (Janet) Hocking, of Madison; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Hocking, of Lancaster; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; two sons, Thomas William and Steven Harold; a great-granddaughter, Joslin Howen; three sisters, Marilyn Cline, Barbara Benson and Shirley Rowley; two brothers, Marvin and William Paulson; and a special friend, Pat Cullen.
