Carol A. Grendahl, age 62, of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 13, 2015 at her home. She was born on December 24, 1952 in Monroe, the daughter of Robert and Orpha (Larson) Newman. Carol grew up on the Newman dairy farm in Juda, Wisconsin and was a 1971 graduate of Juda High School. She earned a B.S. degree in Medical Technology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1975.

Carol was employed as a Medical Technologist with the Monroe Clinic Laboratory for 35 years, where she was instrumental in the development of their computerized laboratory system. She was responsible for the accurate operation of the laboratory's instrumentation and her devotion to detail enabled the lab to pass numerous JCAH inspections with high marks.

Carol served as the 1970 Green County Dairy Queen; she enjoyed showing horses in 4-H; and was a UW-Madison Pom Pom girl. She was an avid sports fan and never missed an opportunity to watch her beloved Badgers and the Packers. She enjoyed flower gardening and playing tennis. Carol was an accomplished pianist and often played for her church in Juda. In Monroe, she was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Carol's focus in life was being a loving and devoted mother to her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Jocelyn Grendahl of Madison; brother, Chester (Donna) Newman of Juda; nieces, Melissa (Brandon) Kilgore, Traci Newman; nephew, Robert Newman; favorite great niece, Eleanor Kilgore, with whom Carol, "CoCo" had a very special relationship; dear friend and family, Maryann Healy, James Healy, Dan Healy, and Sam Healy; also many other loving family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Juda.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 16th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Carol's memory.
