Bruce Clifford Rear, age 59 of Monroe, formerly of Blanchardville, died on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 23, 1957 in Monroe to Clifford & Doris (Vamstad) Rear. He grew up on the family farm, helping the family with farm work through his youth. He went to school in Blanchardville and graduated from the Pecatonica High School in 1975. While in high school he worked for the Blanchardville Co-Op feed mill. After graduation he worked at Industrial Combustion in Monroe for several years. He was married on August 20, 1983 in the Hollandale Lutheran Church to Laurie Griffiths. In the early 80's he farmed with his father and later his brother in rural Blanchardville until around 1990. He worked for E & N Hughes as a heavy equipment operator for over 20 years. He also plowed snow, and did some farm field work on the side. He loved muscle cars, and going to car shows, including restoring and showing his own 1970 red Chevelle SS. He also was a baseball coach for little league and summer league baseball. He never missed attending his family's games. He was a huge Wisconsin sports fan, including Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. He was always surrounded by good family, friends and his grand dogs. He loved his wife, kids and family selflessly, watching out for everyone before himself.

Bruce is survived by three children, Lindsay Rear of Monroe, Traci Rear of Monroe, and Michael (Danae Chacon) Rear of Janesville; two siblings, Brian Rear, and Connie Moen, both of Blanchardville; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Laurie who died on June 1, 2012, and a brother, Frank Rear.

A visitation is being held on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Blanchard Hall on Main Street in Blanchardville. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville at the intersection of highways 78 and 39. Burial will be in the York Memorial Cemetery. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
