Brian Keith Monte, age 34 of Blanchardville, WI, died on Monday, December 21, 2009 from the results of a fire.
Brian was born June 19, 1975 in Monroe, the son of Keith Monte and Margaret (Hasler) Lehr. Since graduating from Stoughton High School in 1993, Brian farmed and worked various construction jobs in southern Wisconsin. He had most recently worked for Mike's roofing and the J & D Silver Dollar in Blanchardville.
Brian was known as a hard worker and a wonderful father. His main passion was fishing and his friends called him an unknown professional fisherman. He also enjoyed bow hunting and making his own fishing lures.
He is survived by his son, Riley Monte; his mother, Margaret (Rick) Lehr of Reeseville, WI; his brother, Matthew Monte of Blanchardville; maternal grandmother, Colleen Hasler of Monroe; aunts, Ann Voegeli, Mary Jo (Fred) Hasler, Kathryn (Terry) Casey; uncle, Roger Drach; and many cousins. Brian was also a father figure to Tiffany and Jake Adler. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Peter Hasler; two uncles, Don and Fred Hasler; and an aunt, Rose Drach.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
