Betty R. Soddy, age 81 of Cadiz Township, Browntown, Wisconsin died Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born May 21, 1929 in Lafayette County the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Sweeney) Krupke.
Betty married Delbert Soddy, Sr. on November 7, 1949 at Emmanuel Church in Monroe and they farmed on the family farm in Cadiz Township. She also worked for The Swiss Colony, Monroe Manor, Bonnie's Restaurant, & Wal-Mart. Betty was a member of Peace United Church of Christ & Women's Guild in Browntown, Green County Community and County Dairy Queen Chairman, 4-H Leader for Browntown Busy Beavers, & Cadiz Homemakers.
Surviving are her sons, Delbert Jr. (Coleen) Soddy & Roger (Stacie) Soddy; daughters, Vicki (Jeff) Makos, Sandra (Larry) Newcomer, Kathy (Rick) DeVoe, & Pamela Soddy all of the area; brother, Wesley (Gwenie) Krupke of Monroe; sisters, Delores (Bob) Vogel of Madison & Shirley (Nathan) Sacker of Florida; 16 Grandchildren; 18 Great-grandchildren; and very special friend, Jerry Hastings. She was predeceased by her Parents; Husband; and grandchildren, Timothy & Tanya DeVoe.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m.. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown with Rev. Steve Hale & Rev. David Hunt Co-officiating. Burial will follow in Saucerman Cemetery in Cadiz Township.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe.
