Betty M. DeRemer age 68 of Monroe, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg following a lengthy battle with throat cancer. Betty was born June 20, 1944 in Monroe, the daughter of Marshall and Hilda (Powers) DeRemer. Betty worked as a bartender at the V.F.W. and Jailhouse Tap for many years. She was a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge #754 and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Cary (Aimee Kent) Grunder of Verona, and Dustin Leutenegger of Monroe; grandchildren, Sophie and Tess Grunder, Samantha Goodman, and Hailey Leutenegger; three sisters, Lou (Frank) Mulligan of Florida, Jean Hartwig of Fitchburg, and Marsha (Leo) Thomann of Albany. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Rona Grunder and Sheri Goodman; and four brothers, Marvin, Quentin, Walter, and Dan DeRemer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Randy Booth officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Betty's name.
