Betty J Kent, age 91, of Warren, IL died peacefully on April 25, 2018. Born in Pleasant Valley, IL on January 12, 1927, she was the eleventh child of George and Mary (Endres) Zink.
In 1943 Betty married Gordon D. Kent in Galena, IL and they celebrated 71 years of marriage before his death in 2014. She helped Gordon farm in Wisconsin for 40 years until they retired to Warren.
Betty truly enjoyed life and her preferred pastimes included quilting, reading, gardening and fishing. However, time spent with family was what she treasured most. Remembered as a "fun" Grandma, her grandchildren recall the favorite foods she made, filled candy dishes, handmade doll clothes, board games and staying up late. We were all blessed to have her in our lives and will miss her loving presence.
Survivors include her sons: Terry (Carol), Steven (Sharon), Keith and Todd (Kay Meade); grandchildren: Angela (Wayne) Laufenberg, Kelly (Keith) Baron, Amy (Eric) Richardson, Kraig (Michelle) Kent, Trisha (Alex) Schaar, Matthew (Rachel) Kent and Brian (Heidi) Kent; great grandchildren: Jacob and Remi Laufenberg, Christopher (Cristyne) and Elizabeth Baron, Lauren and Ethan Richardson, Emma and Megan Kent, William Schaar, Ashton, Gavin and Grady Kent, Lucy, Eily and Deklan Kent. Cherished nieces and nephews and other family and friends also survive.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and siblings: William, Walter, George, Earl and Robert Zink, Emma Albrecht, Florence Staicar, Clara Schultz, Elsie Martin and Delores Paige.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren with lunch to follow at the Warren Community Building. Memorials to the Warren Historical Society or the Warren Fire Department may be directed to the family.
