Bertha A. Mueller

Bertha A. Mueller, age 96 of Monroe, WI, formerly of Argyle, WI, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She was born January 4, 1915, in Green County, WI, the daughter of Ignatius and Rosalia (Heitz) Mueller. Bertha lived in the Argyle area all of her life where she dreamed as a young child of becoming a teacher. She realized that dream when she received her teaching degree from Green County Normal during the great depression. Bertha was a willing and patient Elementary school teacher first in a one room school house in Adam's Township and later in Argyle. She taught for 43 years and worked hard to be the best teacher she could be. Bertha retired in 1977. In 2009, she moved to Angelus Retirement Community in Monroe.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Paul Mueller in 2005; and two sisters: Celia Neill in 1987 and Mary Gallagher in 2007.

Bertha was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle and its Council of Catholic Women. She taught Sunday School for many years. Bertha was a member of a number of county and state teacher organizations. She enjoyed sewing, staying organized, visiting with her neighbors, and traveling. Bertha loved reading. She was also one of the most generous people you could ever meet. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her friends and former students.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 213 N. Lafayette Street in Argyle with Rev. David Wanish officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011, from 12:00 P.M. until time of mass at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
