BELLEVILLE/MIDDLETON - Berniece T. Blumer, age 89 of Middleton, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at her home. She was born on March 2, 1921 to her parents Oscar and Hilma (Simon) Haugen in Iowa County. Berniece graduated from the Arena High School in 1939. On September 22, 1941 she was united in marriage to Henry G. Blumer at the Mt. Horeb Parsonage. Berniece was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in Barneveld, Ridgeway, New Glarus, and Belleville. She was also a clerk at Uffelman's Dime Store and a cook at Maplewood Nursing Home. Over the years the couple also lived in Sauk Prairie, Verona, and Middleton.
She enjoyed her large family and family gatherings. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with her friends at the Voss Haus. Berniece was also an avid Packers and Brewers fan.
Berniece is survived by her two sons, David (Judi) Blumer of Belleville and Bill (Karen) Blumer of Prairie du Sac; three daughters, Judy (Harry) Ethridge of Catoosa, OK, Sharon (Richard) Dallman of Brooklyn, and Bonnie (Denny) Dederich of Prairie du Sac; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry, in 1983; and a great-grandchild, Mariska Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Heide Walker-Hackman officiating with burial in the East Dayton Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.
