EVANSVILLE - Arlene M. Rasmussen, 92, passed away on February 13, 2018, from complications of dementia. She was born March 30, 1925, to William and Anna (Schmid) Legler. After graduation from Brooklyn High School, Arlene attended vocational college and worked in Madison. She married Glenn Rasmussen in 1943. Both Glenn and Arlene were raised on farms and continued to farm together for many years in the Brooklyn and Evansville area.

Arlene enjoyed gardening, baking, volunteering as a 4-H leader, snowmobiling, dancing, playing the piano, selling apples at the farmers' market, playing cards and spending time with her large extended family. Although shy, she knew how to have fun. She especially enjoyed family projects where everyone pulled together to get a job done. A hard worker, Arlene tackled many roles in her life, chief among them wife, farmer, and State of Wisconsin employee, but her favorite and she felt her most important role was that of mother. Arlene and Glenn raised six children who always knew how much they were loved and how proud their parents were of them.

Arlene is survived by her children: Karen (Joe) Baumann, Lynette (Ed Tridle) Rasmussen, Randy (Cindy Jensen) Rasmussen, Linda Rasmussen, Mark (Mary Cay) Rasmussen, and Denise (Richard) Karis. She is further survived by her beloved fourteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Jeanette Legler, and special sister-in-law Rose Legler. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Legler; her brothers, Ivan and William Legler, Jr.; sister, Elaine Lien; brothers-in-law, Ole Lien and Keith Rasmussen; sister-in-law, Lila Rasmussen; and her husband of 70 years, Glenn Rasmussen in 2013.

A celebration of life for Arlene and Glenn will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday March 4, 2018 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 206 W. Prospect Ave. Stoughton. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home, followed by refreshments and social time.
