NEW GLARUS - Arlene L. Yaun, age 84, of New Glarus passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on August 10, 1926 in the Town of Primrose to her parents Adolph and Lillian (Anderson) Sonsteby. Arlene attended country school. On December 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to Leon Yaun at the Primrose Lutheran Church. Arlene was a Mother, Grandmother, and worked as a waitress and cook for over 30 years at Swiss Lanes. She was a member of the Primrose Lutheran Church, a Sunday school teacher, and 4-H Leader.

Arlene is survived by her eight children; Sandra (Roger) Schenk of Brooklyn, Sharon (Carl) Krantz of Shell Lake, Jenny (Duane) Burkhardt of Madison, Dick (Glenda) Yaun of Monroe, Duane (Lori) Yaun of Brooklyn, Lillian "Toots" (Dennis) Hoesly of New Glarus, Dale (Steven) Bridge of Monticello, and Jean (Larry) Retrum of New Glarus; twenty five grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and a sister Alice Handel of Verona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, a brother, a grandson, and two great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Primrose Lutheran Church, 8770 Ridge Dr., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Nicole Espe officiating with burial in the Primrose East Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the New Glarus Home Chapel, 600 2nd Ave., New Glarus, WI.

Memorials are suggested to the Monroe Clinic Hospice, the Primrose Lutheran Church, or the New Glarus Home.
