Anya Toni Lea Teasdale, 16, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly, after courageously fighting for her life on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the UW Hospital in Madison. Anya was born on December 23, 2000 to Shawn Teasdale and Jennifer Hickey in Monroe.

She was currently a sophomore at Monroe High School. Anya enjoyed gymnastics since a young age; not only did she participate but she had recently begun teaching and mentoring at the YMCA. She also enjoyed playing softball on a traveling league. She had been a member of Clarno 4-H. Anya especially enjoyed hanging out with her family, cousins and friends.

Anya is survived by her parents Shawn Teasdale and Jennifer (Clark Fox) Hickey; brother, Taylor; sister, Bella Jax; paternal grandparents, Patrick (Patricia) Teasdale; maternal grandfather, Charles Hickey; paternal aunts and uncles, Matt (Laurie) Teasdale, Jennifer (Mark) Gerleman, and Heather (Lance) Davis; maternal aunts and uncles, Chris (Jen) Hickey, Nic, Thomas, and "Awesome" John Hickey; and numerous cousins and extended family. She is further survived by special family friends, Walter and Elizabeth Bauman, Miranda Christen, Larry and Betsy Kluesner, and Josh and Carrie Foulker; as well as many other friends.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Brenda Lea Hickey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke as celebrant. Burial will follow service in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Anya's name.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Fire Department, First Responders, EMS, Med Flight, and the UW Hospital ER and Burn Unit for their compassion and care.
