EVANSVILLE - Anna Mae (Lemm) Heinsohn, our loving "Granny", age 86, passed away from this life and entered life eternal on Monday, May 15, 2017 at her home following a sudden heart attack. Anna Mae was born on September 18, 1930 and grew up in Half Day, Illinois, the youngest in a family 11 children born to Annie (Kolberg) Lemm and Wilhelm (William) Lemm. She graduated from Ela Vernon High School in Lake Zurich, IL in 1949, then worked as a secretary / bookkeeper. She married Carl O. Heinsohn on May 13, 1950 at Washburn Congregational Church in Half Day, Illinois and settled in Lake Zurich, where they had two children, David and Laura. In 1958, they moved to the farm on the Sugar River by Attica, Brooklyn Township, Wisconsin in 1958, where they had Yorkshire pigs and a custom grain operation. They left the farm in 1981, and moved to the Evansville area. She was an active member of Evansville Congregational United Church of Christ.

Anna Mae thoroughly loved mailing out birthday cards for EVERYONE in her circle of extended family and friends, sending well over 300 cards this past year, each lovingly chosen for a specific picture or verse. She was active in her church and community, even as her physical strength declined. In her younger years, she was active in American Legion Auxiliary, taught Sunday School, sang for weddings, and kept up with her large extended family. Even though she wasn't thrilled when Dad decided to go farming, she made the best of it, and became an excellent farmer in her own right. She cared deeply about education and was on the Attica School Board, and helped all her children and grandchildren graduate from college. She was leader for many years of the Jolly Mixers 4-H club, helped with transportation of others to church, and delivered Meals on Wheels. She loved Homemakers Club, Van Galder's Bus tours, Fireside musicals, volunteering with the Rock County Republican Women and Women's Fellowship at Evansville UCC. We are so grateful to Oscar and Norma Bjugstad, who lovingly brought her to church and out to breakfast afterwards, and to the many activities at church.

Anna Mae demonstrated daily her strong values of honesty, hard work, integrity, compassion, generosity and the importance of a strong Christian faith. She was the epitome of a loving 'Granny', tremendously generous, and making sure her Grandkids and Great Grandkids knew how very much they were loved. She prayed daily for each of us. Her favorite times in life were family get-togethers. Our hearts are broken but we are so thankful for a wonderful last Mother's Day together. We love you, our precious Mom and Granny!!

Anna Mae is survived by her daughter, Laura (Dean) Flood of Oregon; grandchildren Joshua Flood of Germantown, Maryland, Jared (Michelle) Flood of Sun Prairie and Holly (Cory) Dregne of Middleton; great-grandchildren Olivia and Isaac Flood and Eden, Clayton and Eli Dregne; sister Marian Prouty, Gurnee, IL and sister in law, Betty Heinsohn of Lake Zurich, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son David in 1989, her husband Carl in 2007, and siblings Rosie, Benny, Walter, Ed, Mabel, Clara, Jack, Bertha, William (Bud), and numerous brothers and sisters in law.
