Alma M. Freitag, 96, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in Fair Oaks Health Care Center, South Beloit, IL.
She was born July 27, 1915 in Clarno Township, Green County, WI, the daughter of David and Libbie (Baumgartner) Teuscher. Alma's young years were spent on a farm in Clarno Township. After her father died in 1919, during the flu epidemic, the family moved to Monroe, WI. She was a 1933 graduate of Monroe High School. Alma married Howard Z. Freitag on March 11, 1937 in St. John's Evangelical Church Monroe, WI. He predeceased her on June 18, 1997.
One of Alma's early employers was the Woolen Mill in Monticello, WI, where she made mittens. She was also employed by McNeany's Department Store in Beloit, WI, for 20 years, retiring in 1971. Alma was a long time member of the River of Life United Methodist Church, Beloit, WI.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Mae Freitag of Monroe, WI; two nieces, Marilyn (Alan) Sorenson of Orfordville, WI, and Joyce (Jon) Quinn of Altoona, WI; two nephews, Robert Buehl of Monticello, WI, and Frederick (Marie) Teuscher of Cambridge, WI.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gold and the staff at Fair Oaks Health Care Center for the care given to Alma.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; two sisters, Minnie Engel and Lena Buehl; one half sister, Clara Buehl; two brothers, John Teuscher and William Teuscher.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 in Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, with Reverend David Carlson from the River of Life United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery, Monticello, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in her name to the River of Life United Methodist Church.
